Rapides Parish, in the absolute center of Louisiana, received its name from the rapids of the Red River that once formed during certain times of the year that made the river impossible to navigate. The parish is now home to Alexandria, the parish seat and Pineville. The men and women of the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Department provide law enforcement to the citizens and visitors to the entire parish as well as providing search and rescue and other services to its citizens. The “Thin Blue Line” Flags designed for the men and women of the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Department show the badge over the stripes. If desired, the Deputy can have their flag personalized with their name, title and the year their service to the community began.
