As early as 1711, Pineville was an outpost and trading village along the Red River and is named for the plentiful virgin pine trees along the rolling hills overlooking the river. Pineville has a long and distinctive history from a Civil War stronghold at Fort Buhlow to the original site of Louisiana State University. In March of 1878, the city of Pineville was granted a charter of corporation by the state of Louisiana. The Pineville Police Department was formed in 1922 and continues to serve the citizens and visitors of Pineville Louisiana with honor and distinction. The “Thin Blue Line” Flags designed for the officers of the Pineville Police Department show the badge over the stripes. If desired, an officer can also have their flag personalized with their name, title and the year their service to the community began. These flags make great displays of department pride just to have, for retirements, or other special occasions.
